The Pitt McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine had the pleasure of hosting the Ivy+ group for a special behind-the-scenes tour of the Pitt McGowan facility here in Pittsburgh on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 from 5:30pm-7:00pm. Dr. Chandan K. Sen, our new Director, who is a world-renowned expert in regenerative medicine and a pioneer of novel wound care technologies. He also serves as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Life Sciences Innovation and Commercialization for Pitt Health Sciences. Dr. Sen is also the Chief Scientific Officer of UPMC Wound Care Services.
The event was highly focused, and highlighted cutting-edge regenerative medicine technologies being developed in our region. Dr. Sen also discussed how these latest life changing, life saving technologies are being commercialized and reaching the patients across Pennsylvania nd the nation.
Dr. Sen previously served as Distinguished Professor and J. Stanley Battersby Chair of Surgery and the Director of the Indiana Center for Regenerative Medicine and Engineering (ICRME) at Indiana University.
What is unique, is that Dr. Sen brought along his team of 35 doctors, researchers, and staff to Pitt McGowan, to rapidly ramp up the impact and influence of Pitt McGowan, with this world class injection of highly skilled talent. They have become our new Pittsburgh professional colleagues and neighbors.
The event opened with a reception at 5:30pm and from 6pm-7pm, Dr. Sen gave a quick presentation about the research conducted at Pitt McGowan and then guests were giving a tour of various labs housed on our 3rd and 4th floors.
