Title Macrophage Phenotype as a Determinant of Outcome in Pelvic Organ Prolapse Repair

Description: This project aims to establish the phenotypic profile of macrophages which respond at early time points following implantation of three commonly used synthetic mesh materials and relate early macrophage phenotype to downstream outcomes in models of vaginal and abdominal implantation. The project also aims to demonstrate that modulation of the early host innate immune response from a predominantly Ma, pro-inflammatory phenotype to a more M2, regulatory phenotype results in better incorporation and downstream functional outcomes.
