Space and Environmental Resilience: Uncovering How Exposure to Space Alters the Genome

We are excited to share new research that reveals how exposure to space impacts our genes and helps organisms adapt to extreme environments.

Our study analyzed skin samples from mice aboard the International Space Station (ISS) to explore how space stress affects the genome. Our findings show that space exposure triggers changes in gene activity, particularly enhancing angiogenesis (forming new blood vessels) through epigenetic modifications.

These changes could be crucial for understanding how some organisms demonstrate resilience to the challenges of space. This research emphasizes the importance of genomic plasticity in helping organisms survive and adapt to harsh environments like space.
