Herbert Lee Ray, Jr., DMD

Dr. Herbert Ray is an Associate Professor of Endodontics and the Department Chair and Director, Graduate Endodontic Residency Program, University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine.  He also serves as an Endodontic Consultant, General Practice Residency Program, at the Pittsburgh Veterans Administration Health System.  Dr. Ray is a member of Pitt’s Center for Craniofacial Regeneration.

Dr. Ray completed his undergraduate education at Westminster College, New Wilmington, Pennsylvania.  He continued his graduate work at Temple University, School of Dentistry, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, obtaining his DMD and later a Certificate in Endodontics.

Dr. Ray’s memberships in professional and scientific societies include: 1.) American Dental Association; 2.) American Association of Endodontics; 3.) Pennsylvania Dental Association; 4.) Pennsylvania Association of Endodontists; 5.) Odontology Society of Western Pennsylvania; 6.) American Board of Endodontics; 7.) College of Diplomates of the American Board of Endodontics; 8.) American Dental Education Association; 9.) International/American Association for Dental Research; and 10.) Fellow, International College of Dentists.

Dr. Ray’s research work involves pulp regeneration utilizing various methods of dental pulp cell delivery, long-term follow up of revascularization cases using platelet-rich fibrin, high resolution microcomputed analysis of root canal morphology and endodontic procedures.
