Dr. Ethan Rossi is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.  He holds a secondary appointment in the Department of Bioengineering, University of Pittsburgh Swanson School of Engineering.

In 2001, Dr. Rossi received a BA, Brain & Cognitive Sciences, from the University of Rochester, Rochester, NY.  In 2009, he received his PhD, Vision Science, from the University of California, Berkeley, Berkeley, CA.

Dr. Rossi’s current research interests include: ophthalmic imaging, adaptive optics, eye movements, visual performance, spatial vision, image processing, photoreceptors, retinal pigmented epithelial cells, retinal ganglion cells, retinal degenerations, retinal dystrophies, age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma and concussion.  Dr. Rossi has received support for his research from the National Eye Institute, BrightFocus Foundation, Foundation Fighting Blindness, and the Thome Memorial Foundation. Dr. Rossi holds 4 patents related to imaging technologies that he has developed.

Dr. Rossi is a member of the following professional organizations:  Association for Researchers in Vision and Ophthalmology, Optical Society of America, the University of California Center for Adaptive Optics, and the European Association for Vision and Eye Research.
