The Wiegand Summer Internship provides an opportunity for a current high school senior who resides in the following counties: Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Washington and (portions of) Westmoreland, and will be graduating in the spring of 2024 to spend four to five weeks learning first-hand about regenerative medicine research and scientific investigations in general. The outline of the program is as follows:
- Student will participate in and contribute to ongoing research in one of the laboratories
- Student will prepare a presentation based on his/her experience at the Institute
- Student is recognized for contributions and receives a $1,200 stipend for the internship
The Wiegand Summer Internship is made possible through an endowment from Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Wiegand, friends and supporters of the Institute. The endowment is designed to provide an opportunity for a high school senior to experience the opportunities and excitement of a career in science and engineering, with a focus on regenerative medicine.
For an application to be considered complete, you will need to upload your official transcript, a copy of your SAT or ACT scores, and recommendation letters from both your high school advisor and your science teacher.
