Relaxin: Cardiovascular Actions and Therapeutic Potential
Speaker: Dr. Sanjeev Shroff, Distinguished Professor and Gerald E. McGinnis Chair in Bioengineering; Professor of Medicine, University of Pittsburgh
About the Speaker: Dr. Shroff has served as Chair of the Department of Bioengineering since 2013 (except for the two years, 2022-24, during which he served as the Interim U.S. Steel Dean of the Swanson School of Engineering). His research focuses on cardiovascular physiology and engineering, including:
- Left ventricular mechano-energetic function and cellular regulation of contraction
- Role of vascular stiffness in cardiovascular function
- Cardiovascular actions and therapeutic potential of relaxin
- Development of novel cardiovascular monitoring technologies
He has held continuous NIH funding since 1986 and currently leads multiple NIH training grants and translational research programs
