Seungil Kim, PhD
Dr. Seungil Kim is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh since 2021 after engaging in postdoctoral research at the University of Pittsburgh (advisor: William Wagner, PhD) since 2018.
Dr. Kim received a PhD in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Manitoba in Canada (advisor: Dr. Song Liu, co-advisor: Dr. Emmanuel A. Ho) in 2018 and received an MSc in Chemical Engineering from the Sungkyunkwan University in South Korea (advisor: Dr. Ji-Heung Kim).
As an expert in polymer/biomedical engineering, his current research focuses are: 1) bioresorbable embolization biomaterials for treatment of cerebral aneurysms in regenerative medicine, 2) bioabsorbable medical devices for cardiovascular diseases including artificial blood vessels, aortic valves, and cardiac patches, and 3) topical target delivery of therapeutics using medical devices and nanocarriers.
