Dr. Tara Meyer is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Pittsburgh. After receiving her BA in Chemistry at Grinnell College, she went on to obtain her PhD in Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Iowa where she performed research until 1992. She then began research at the University of California, Berkeley, for 2 years before coming to the University of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Meyer has received numerous awards and honors for her research, including the NSF CAREER Research and Teaching Award, the NSF POWRE Research Award, and two DuPont Educational Aid Awards. In 2000, she was elected for a 6-year term as the National Councilor for the Inorganic Division of the American Chemical Society. In 2004 she was a Visiting Scholar at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Dr. Meyer has been featured in several publications, and her research interests include the synthesis and characterization of repeating sequence copolymers, the preparation of stimulus responsive materials, and the design of metal ion sensing systems. Dr. Meyer has also been active in the areas of catalysis and organometallic chemistry.
