About the Speaker: Dr. Urbin is a motor systems neuroscientist with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, specializing in motor control and learning. His doctoral work at Auburn University combined motor control theory with sports biomechanics to address performance and injury potential in athletes. He later shifted his focus to neurorehabilitation, completing postdoctoral training at Washington University in St. Louis, the University of Miami, and the University of Pittsburgh. His research aims to better understand the pathophysiology underlying impaired digit control and how targeted noninvasive neuromodulation strategies and assistive technologies can be used as part of activity-based therapy to retrain muscles weakened by neurological injury.
