Dr. Parker Evans completed his M.S. in Chemical Engineering at the University of Arizona and his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at The Ohio State University. Before joining the McGowan Institute and the University of Pittsburgh, he was a professor of Surgery and the Associate Director of Education at the Indiana Center for Regenerative Medicine.

His research interests include photonics, electronics, electrochemistry, signal/image processing, deep learning, artificial intelligence, and microbiology.

Dr. Evans’s focus is on translating devices to clinical adoption. Currently he works on implantable devices to monitor cardiac electrophysiology (NIH DP2 with Dr. DeMazumder), and photonics devices for chronic wound management with a focus on pressure ulcers. He holds two patents and has numerous publications on bioelectronic devices. Dr. Evans’s research program is funded by the National Institute of Health.

Dr. Evans serves as a reviewer of the Nature Publishing Group Journal Entomology and he regularly reviews machine learning and electronics papers for PLoS One and Advances in Wound Care. In addition, he co-chairs the McGowan Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion committee.
