Joseph T. Church, MD
Dr. Joseph Church is a pediatric surgeon and is board-certified in general surgery and in pediatric general and thoracic surgery by the American Board of Surgery. He is assistant professor of surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
He received his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, MI, and completed his general surgery residency training at University of Michigan, where he also completed a 2-year research fellowship in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). He went on to complete his pediatric surgery fellowship at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital at the University of Michigan.
Dr. Church’s clinical interests include congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH), thoracic surgery, ECMO, and minimally invasive techniques. His laboratory research seeks to discover new prenatal therapies for congenital diaphragmatic hernia. He is a member of the American Pediatric Surgical Association (APSA) and the American College of Surgeons (ACS).
