David N. Finegold, MD
Dr. David Finegold is a Professor of Human Genetics at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Finegold earned his MD at the University of Pittsburgh. He did his internship and residency at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, and he had fellowships at the George S. Cox Medical Research Institute, Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He is Director of the Multidisciplinary Masters of Public Health Program at the Graduate School of Public Health.
Dr. Finegold focuses his research on lymphatic vascular biology and genetic variation underlying primary and secondary lymphedema. He is the co-principal investigator for the Pittsburgh Lymphedema Family Study, which aims to identify genes responsible for primary (or inherited) lymphedema, also known as Milroy’s and Meige’s Disease. He is a co-investigator in Dr. Massimo Trucco’s studies to rescue newly diagnosed patients with type I diabetes mellitus. He is a member of Dr. Lisa Pan’s suicide research group. He also is a member of two analytical chemistry groups developing novel biomolecular sensors.
Dr. Finegold is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, the American Board of Pediatric Endocrinology, and the American Board of Medical Genetics (Biochemical Genetics).
