Chandan K. Sen, PhD, MS, a world-renowned regenerative medicine expert and pioneer of novel wound care technologies, joined the University of Pittsburgh in 2023 as associate vice chancellor for life sciences innovation and commercialization, health sciences, and also serves as director of the University’s McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine (MIRM). In these leadership roles, he is responsible for accelerating momentum in research areas that are key to the future of the Pittsburgh region, and for driving collaboration with local and national academic and industry partners to speed scientific discoveries to patients and the marketplace. Dr. Sen is also a professor of surgery in the School of Medicine, with a secondary appointment in the Department of Plastic Surgery, and is chief scientific officer of UPMC Wound Care Services.

Patrick Cantini is the Test Facility Management and Administrative Director for the Center for Preclinical Studies within the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine. Patrick also serves as the Strategy and Business Development Officer at the McGowan Institute. Mr. Jamelle Price is the External Relations Manager in the Office of Strategy and Business Development at the University of Pittsburgh McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine. He is charged with overseeing all aspects of the institute’s marketing, communications, external relations, and government relations efforts. His focus will be on strategy development and execution of a comprehensive marketing communications plan to highlight the institute’s research, faculty, students, staff, and programs to key constituencies.

Dr. Peter Wearden is the Director Nemours Cardiac Center—Florida, Chair, Department of Cardiovascular Surgery, and Chief, Cardiothoracic Surgery, at the Nemours Children’s Hospital, Orlando, Florida. Dr. Harvey Borovetz is a Distinguished Professor and former Chair (2002-2013) in the Department of Bioengineering, Swanson School of Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh, the Robert L. Hardesty Professor in the Department of Surgery, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, a Professor of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering, a professor – Clinical and Translational Science Institute and a University Honors College Faculty Fellow. Within the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine, Dr. Borovetz holds the position of Deputy Director of Artificial Organs and Medical Devices.
