Center for Preclinical Studies (CPCS) is a full-service research support and study management program providing a platform for supporting both exploratory and preclinical testing of novel therapies and medical devices.
The CPCS is a state-of-the art Test Facility within the University of Pittsburgh’s McGowan Institute building conveniently located on Pittsburgh’s Southside district adjacent to Pitt’s main campus and in the heart of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center’s (UPMC) primary location. This secured and access-controlled facility (24-hour manned guard station) houses both large and small research models, with sufficient capacity for in-coming quarantine, pre study conditioning, surgical support, and post-surgical short and long-term testing support with ICU critical care support (with 24/7 coverage), when needed.
Facilities design and environmental conditions meet or exceed the requirements specified by the University of Pittsburgh IACUC, USDA and AAALAC International in addition to the general expectations of other regulatory agencies.
