He holds BS and MS degrees in Animal Science from Auburn University, Auburn, Alabama, as well as a PhD in Physiology from Pennsylvania State University, State College, Pennsylvania.
Currently, Dr. Campbell is actively involved in research efforts focusing on the bioavailability of growth factors, growth factor association and dissociation with various interstitial components, proteolytic processing, biomimetic tissue-engineered materials, and musculoskeletal tissue repair and regeneration. His research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, the Department of Defense, the Office of Naval Research, industry, foundations, Pennsylvania state, and academia. Dr. Campbell is a member of the Endocrine Society, the American Society of Bone and Mineral Research, and the International Bone and Mineral Society. He serves as a publications reviewer for numerous journals, including but not limited to, Tissue Engineering,Biomaterials, Endocrinology, the Journal of Endocrinology, and Nanomedicine. Dr. Campbell is a grant reviewer for the National Science Foundation, the Veteran’s Administration, the Medical Research Council of Canada, NASA, amongst others.
