    Heather L. Szabo-Rogers, PhD

    Dr. Heather Szabo-Rogers is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Oral Biology, Center for Craniofacial Regeneration, School of Dental Medicine, University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Szabo-Rogers received her bachelor’s with a specialization in cell biology at the University of Alberta, Canada. She earned her doctorate in oral biology at the University of British Columbia. She did her postdoctoral research at King’s College London, Department of Craniofacial Development, where she focused on the role of Wnt inhibitors in skull development, before she moved to Pittsburgh. Dr. Szabo-Rogers focuses her research on the developing face and skull. Specifically, she is interested in morphogenesis of the facial bones and cartilages. Using a combination of cutting-edge genomics combined with classical embryology and cell biological techniques, she studies the signaling pathways and tissue interactions that pattern the skull and palate. Additionally, she hopes to understand the basic principles underlying craniosynostosis and orofacial clefting. View a list of Dr. Szabo-Rogers’ publications here.
