Dr. Cary Wu is the Lombardi and Shinozuka Experimental Pathology Research Chair and Professor in the Department of Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He is also the Co-Director of the Pathology Post-Doctoral Research Training Program at the University of Pittsburgh. In addition, he is a Member of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute.
Dr. Wu received his PhD in Biological Sciences (Molecular Cell Biology and Biochemistry) from the University of Pittsburgh, and his BS and MS in Biochemistry from the East China University of Chemical Technology, Shanghai, China.
Dr. Wu initially joined Pitt’s faculty in 2000 as an Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology. Prior to his appointment, Dr. Wu began his post doctoral training at Pitt in the Department of Biological Sciences and in 1994 completed his training at Samuel C. Johnson Medical Research Center, Mayo Foundation/Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Dr. Wu holds memberships in the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the American Society for Cell Biology. In 2010 and 2011, he was honored with the Pitt Innovator Award. Dr. Wu presently serves as the Associate Editor for Cell Adhesion and Migration (Landers Biosciences, Austin, Texas), an Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Biomedicine and Biotechnology and The Open Cell Signaling Journal, and a Member of the Panel of Evaluators, Current Drugs.
Dr. Wu’s current research interests include:
